Donald Trump and House Republicans repeatedly promised that they wouldn’t freeze funding that directly benefited individuals, yet multiple vulnerable House Republicans representing tens of thousands of farms are now standing by as Trump freezes hundreds of millions of dollars of funding that American farmers were promised.
As reported in the Washington Post: “Farmers who signed contracts with the Agriculture Department under those programs paid up front to build fencing, plant new crops and install renewable energy systems with guarantees that the federal government would issue grants and loan guarantees to cover at least part of their costs. Now, with that money frozen, they’re on the hook.”
House Republicans are leaving American farmers out to dry, and will have some explaining to do next week when they head back to their districts. HMP will hold them accountable in 2026 for abandoning their constituents. Districts include but are not limited to:
